This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) for Synec Inc., doing business as Synec, a company registered in Infanta, Pangasinan, at F/2 Kurba, Poblacion, Infanta, Pangasinan 2412 (“we,” “us,” or “our“), describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share (“process“) your personal information when you use our mobile application Plynt (the “App”), as well as any other products, applications, and/or services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services“), including when you:

  • Download, install, access, and/or use our App, or the Services
  • Engage with us in other related ways, including but not limited to any sales, marketing, or events

This Privacy Policy constitutes a legally binding agreement made between you, whether personally or on behalf of an entity (“you,” “your”), and us, concerning your access to and use of the Services. You agree that by downloading, installing, accessing, and/or using the Services, or by clicking a button or checking a box marked “I Agree” (or something similar), you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all of this Privacy Policy. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, THEN YOU ARE EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED FROM USING THE SERVICES AND YOU MUST DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY. If these Privacy Policy terms are considered to be an offer, then acceptance is expressly limited to this Privacy Policy.

You must ensure that others are aware of this Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring that all persons who download, install, access, and/or use our Services through your internet connection or mobile devices are aware of this Privacy Policy and that those individuals comply with it.

By using the Services, you affirm that you are of legal age to enter into this Privacy Policy, or, if you are not, that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to enter into this Privacy Policy and your parent or guardian consents to this Privacy Policy on your behalf. 1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

1.1. Personal information you disclose to us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our Services, participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.

  • Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect may include, but is not limited to, the following:
    • names
    • phone numbers
    • mailing addresses
    • usernames
    • contact preferences
    • passwords
    • email addresses
    • billing addresses
    • debit/credit card numbers
    • contact or authentication data
  • Sensitive Information. When necessary, with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we process the following categories of sensitive information:
    • health data
  • Payment Data. We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make purchases, such as your payment instrument number and the security code associated with it. All payment data is handled and stored by Apple or Google if our App is distributed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You may find their privacy notices here:
  • Social Media Login Data. We may provide you with the option to register with us using your existing social media account details (e.g., Facebook, X, or another social media account). If you choose to register in this way, we will collect certain profile information about you from the social media provider, as described in Section 7 (“HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?”).
  • Application Data. If you use our App and/or Services, we also may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:
    • Geolocation Information. We may request access or permission to track location-based information from your mobile device, either continuously or while you are using our App. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings.
    • Mobile Device Access. We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including but not limited to your device’s Bluetooth, camera, microphone, reminders, contacts, calendar, sensors, SMS messages, social media accounts, and other features. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings.
    • Mobile Device Data. We automatically collect device information (e.g., device ID, model, manufacturer), operating system, version information, system configuration, browser type and version, and IP address (or proxy server). If you use our App, we may also collect details such as phone network, mobile carrier, and information about which features you use.
    • Push Notifications. We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or certain features of the App. If you wish to opt out, you can turn these notifications off in your device’s settings.

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, current, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us immediately of any changes.

1.2. Information automatically collected

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (e.g., name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. We primarily need this information to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies. See Section 5 and Section 11.4 of this Privacy Policy for more details.

Information we collect includes:

  • Log and Usage Data. Service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services, recorded in log files. This may include your IP address, device information, browser type, settings, and information about your activities in the Services (e.g., date/time stamps, pages viewed, error reports, and hardware settings).
  • Device Data. Information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other device you use to access the Services. This may include your IP address (or proxy server), device and application identification numbers, location, browser type, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, operating system, and system configuration.
  • Location Data. Information about your device’s location, which can be precise or imprecise, depending on your device’s settings. We may use GPS and other technologies to collect geolocation data (based on your IP address, for instance). You can opt out by disabling Location settings on your device or refusing permission, although certain Services may become unavailable.

1.3. Google API

Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

1.4. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

We do not knowingly accept, request, or solicit information from children or knowingly market to children. In accordance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), if we receive actual knowledge that anyone under the age of 13 has provided personal information to us without the requisite verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information from the Services as quickly as is reasonably practical and deactivate the account. 2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

We process your personal information for various reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including (but not limited to):

  • To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts.
  • To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We process your information to provide you with the requested service (including news aggregation/curation, AI-powered news narration “Plyntify,” personalized updates, and extended narrative reports).
  • To respond to user inquiries/offer support to users.
  • To send administrative information to you. Details about our Services, changes to our terms and policies, and other similar information.
  • To fulfill and manage your orders. For example, payments, returns, and exchanges made through the Services.
  • To enable user-to-user communications. If you choose to use features that allow you to communicate with other users.
  • To request feedback.
  • To send you marketing and promotional communications. In accordance with your marketing preferences. You can opt out at any time (see “WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?”).
  • To deliver targeted advertising to you. Personalized content and advertising tailored to your interests.
  • To protect our Services. This may include fraud monitoring and prevention.
  • To identify usage trends. Better understanding how users use our Services so we can improve.
  • To determine the effectiveness of our marketing and promotional campaigns.
  • To save or protect an individual’s vital interest. For instance, to prevent harm.

3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

If you are located in the EU or UK: The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on in order to process your personal information. These may include:

  • Consent. We may process your personal information if you have given us permission to do so for a specific purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Performance of a Contract. Where processing is necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you or to take steps at your request before entering a contract.
  • Legitimate Interests. Where it is reasonably necessary to achieve our legitimate business interests and those interests do not override your fundamental rights.
  • Legal Obligations. Where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
  • Vital Interests. Where processing is necessary to protect your vital interests or those of another person.

If you are located in Canada: We may process your information if you have given us specific (express) or implied consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time. In some exceptional cases, we may be legally permitted to process your information without your consent (e.g., if collection is clearly in the interests of an individual and consent cannot be obtained in a timely way, for fraud detection/prevention, or if disclosure is required by a subpoena).

4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We may need to share your personal information in the following situations:

  • Business Transfers. If we negotiate or conclude a merger, financing, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of our assets, we may share or transfer your information.
  • When we use Google Maps Platform APIs. We may share your information with certain Google Maps Platform APIs (e.g., to provide location-based functionality).
  • Affiliates. We may share your information with our affiliates, in which case we will require them to honor this Privacy Policy. Affiliates include our parent company or any subsidiaries, joint venture partners, or other companies under common control with us.
  • Business Partners. We may share your information with our business partners to offer you certain products or services.
  • Other Users. If you share personal information publicly (e.g., by posting comments), such information may be viewed by all users and may be publicly available outside the Services.
  • Offer Wall. Our App may display a third-party “offer wall.” Such an offer wall may lead you to an external site, and a unique identifier may be shared with the offer wall provider.

5. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (e.g., web beacons, pixels) to access or store information. Some of these are essential for the operation of the Services; others may be used for analytics or advertising. For more detailed information, see Section 11.4 (“Cookies and similar technologies”).

5.1. Google Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to track and analyze use of the Services. This may include Advertising Features such as Remarketing, Demographics and Interests Reporting, and Display Network Impression Reporting. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, adjusting Ads Settings or your mobile app settings, or visiting Network Advertising Initiative opt-outs.

6. DO WE OFFER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-BASED PRODUCTS?

Yes. As part of our Services, we offer AI-powered products, features, or tools (collectively, “AI Products“), such as Plyntify (AI-powered news narration) and extended narrative reports. These tools are designed to enhance your user experience by providing innovative solutions. By using our AI Products, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • We may rely on third-party service providers (e.g., OpenAI or similar) to power these features.
  • We will process your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our agreements with such third parties.
  • You will not misuse the AI Products in any way that violates applicable law or the terms and policies of the third-party providers.

7. HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?

Our Services may provide the option to register or log in using your third-party social media account details (e.g., Facebook, X). If you choose to do so, we will receive certain profile information about you from the social media provider. We will use the information we receive only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or otherwise made clear to you on the Services. We do not control and are not responsible for other uses of your personal information by your third-party social media provider. We recommend you review their privacy notice.

8. IS YOUR INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?

Our servers may be located in various jurisdictions (including the United States). If you are accessing our Services from outside those jurisdictions, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed by us and our third parties in countries that may not have data protection laws as comprehensive as those in your country. We will take necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

8.1. European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses

Where appropriate, we use the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses to protect transfers of personal information from the EEA/UK to non-EEA/UK jurisdictions.

8.2. Data Privacy Framework

If and to the extent we rely on any Data Privacy Framework (e.g., EU-US, Swiss-US) certifications, we will comply with such framework’s principles. If there is any conflict between the terms of this Privacy Policy and the relevant Data Privacy Framework Principles, the latter shall govern. 9. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your information, we will delete or anonymize it (or securely store it and isolate it until deletion is possible).

10. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

We have implemented reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission or storage technology can be guaranteed 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers or cybercriminals will not be able to defeat our security. You should only access our Services within a secure environment.

11. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In some regions (like the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws, which may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure, (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information, (iv) if applicable, to data portability, (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making, and (vi) to object to the processing of your personal information in some circumstances. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws. If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11.1. Withdrawing your consent

If we rely on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

11.2. Opting out of marketing and promotional communications

You can unsubscribe from our marketing and promotional communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us at hello@synecsoftware.com. You will then be removed from our marketing lists. However, we may still communicate with you for service-related purposes.

11.3. Account Information

If you wish to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

11.4. Cookies and similar technologies

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can often choose to set your browser to remove cookies or reject cookies. Doing so could affect certain features or services of our Services. See also:

For mobile devices, you can manage tracking technologies via your settings. We may use advertising cookies, analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics), essential cookies, and functionality/performance cookies. You have a right to control the use of these technologies where relevant.

12. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your preference not to be tracked online. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized, and thus we do not currently respond to DNT signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.

13. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah) may grant certain rights to residents within those states. If you are a resident of a U.S. state that provides for additional privacy rights, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you, how we use it, and with whom we share it.
  • Access, correct, and delete personal information.
  • Opt out of sales/sharing of personal information or targeted advertising.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

If you designate an authorized agent, we may request additional proof that they are authorized to act on your behalf. 14. DO OTHER REGIONS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

14.1. Australia and New Zealand

We collect and process your personal information in accordance with Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020. You may request access or correction of your personal information by contacting us. If you have concerns, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) or the Office of the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner, respectively.

14.2. Republic of South Africa

If you believe we are processing your personal information in violation of the law, you can submit a complaint to the Information Regulator (South Africa). You can also request access or correction to your personal information by contacting us.

15. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY?

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to make changes or modifications to this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we may notify you by posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. By continuing to use the Services after those changes become effective, you acknowledge and agree to the updated Privacy Policy.

18. MISCELLANEOUS

This Privacy Policy and any policies or operating rules posted by us on the Services constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning this subject matter and supersede any prior version. Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of this Privacy Policy shall not operate as a waiver. If any provision is found by a court or arbitrator to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect, and such invalid provision may be modified or severed to the extent necessary to make it enforceable. No joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between you and us because of this Privacy Policy or your use of the Services. This Privacy Policy shall be construed as if drafted jointly by both parties, and no presumption or burden of proof arising from authorship shall apply.
